Danielle Costa-McCobb, LPC

Psychotherapist
NJ
You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, the effects of past trauma, family conflict, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, or stressful life transitions. I work with children, teens, young adults, adults, and families who are looking for support, insight, and meaningful personal growth. Together, we explore how past experiences may be affecting the present, strengthen coping skills, and develop practical ways to manage emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges. I help clients work through anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relationship concerns, self-esteem, parenting, and school-related stress. My approach is warm, supportive, collaborative, and trauma-informed, incorporating person-centered, ACT, mindfulness, family systems, strength-based, and supportive therapy. It is completely understandable to feel nervous about starting therapy. Being vulnerable and opening old wounds can feel difficult, but having someone there to offer support, insight, and guidance can be an important part of healing. We can begin wherever you are and work together at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have approximately 30 years of experience in the mental health field, beginning my career supporting children and families affected by domestic violence. My work has included crisis intervention, school-based services, family support, and helping clients navigate difficult circumstances.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is warm, supportive, collaborative, and reflective. I draw from person-centered, ACT, trauma-focused, mindfulness, family systems, strength-based, and supportive approaches. I meet clients where they are rather than bringing my own agenda, using reflection, practical guidance, and mind-body strategies to help clients build insight, coping skills, and meaningful change.
