“A nice way to start the journey of therapy. I was apprehensive about starting but am glad I did. I could tell she was listening by her responses and also taking notes . It’s only the first session but I feel better going into the next one. So far I’m looking forward to working with Dr Gray and where we can grow.”

Getting to know Danielle Gray

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College who loves to ignite motivation, faith, and hope in my clients as they work toward achieving their goals and becoming the best versions of themselves. When life is “lif-ing,” it can definitely feel like everything is spiraling out of control, with one problem after the next. Sometimes it feels impossible to get your head above water when dealing with daily stressors, depression, anxiety, inflation, grief, bills, relationship issues, or past traumas resurfacing. Yeah, if this is you… we are in this together! We all need someone to talk to when life gets tough. Sometimes, when the lemons life throws become more than we can manage, we need more than what our well-meaning friends, family, spouse, or religious figures can give. That's where we utilize our resources, and thankfully, therapy is a great resource to help get life sorted and figured out. Clients often have the misconception that therapists fix their issues, but to tell you the truth, therapists do not fix your issues-that work is still on you. Therapists help clients realize what thoughts, actions, behaviors, and perspectives are preventing them from reaching their goals and being the best they can be. Believe it or not, all the answers are already within you, but sometimes we need the motivation and extra push to make the changes we say we want to make. I like to think of therapy as a gym process and therapists as trainers of the mind. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you can feel free to express yourself and be as open as you feel comfortable. I am the cheerleader, motivator, gem dropper, breathing coach, and so much more to help my clients declutter all the stuff going on in their minds and adapt effective techniques along the way. No matter what is going on in your life, there is always room for growth and introspection.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Along with my authentic personality of being chill, relatable, comedic, empathetic and understanding, I would describe my therapeutic approach as "eclectic", which means I use a variety of approaches such as Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered/Focused, Mindfulness and more. In sessions you will find me to be solution focused, I love to find solutions to problems being experienced. Sessions will focus on thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve who you desire to be and the goals that you want to achieve as well as reframe thoughts and or perspectives that are presenting as barriers in your life. We will work together to adopt new behaviors, learn new coping skills and understand the root of past issues.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I make it my mission to help clients better understand themselves, build upon their current strengths, and integrate new and effective techniques that will help them make it through life’s journey. In the first session, it is all about information gathering where the client provides information about their life regarding why and what they hope to gain out of seeking therapy to help the therapist get on the same page as them. The first few sessions are important in building a strong rapport as the therapist is someone you will be sharing details of your life with; so, you want to be comfortable and don't be afraid to ask questions.
