What should a new client know about working with you?

Danielle provides counseling for adolescents and adults, with a special focus on supporting the LGBTQ+ community. She is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment where clients can explore issues related to gender identity, sexuality, self-acceptance, and relationships.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Danielle says, “In our intake, you will see me taking a lot of notes as I work to learn your story. It is important for me to consider my clients’ backgrounds and the cultural context from which they are coming from, so I will ask about your childhood experiences, where you were raised, and what kind of student you were (even if you’re an adult!). I also will want to learn about your home life, relationships, work/school, and any other information you think is important to share with me. I also really love to learn about your hobbies, interests, and what brings you joy! Of course we will discuss what brings you to therapy and review your symptoms, but my main focus of our intake and first few sessions is building a positive therapeutic relationship.”
