Bienvenido! Seeking mental health care is not an easy task, I'm glad you've stuck with it this far. My first goal as a therapist is to meet people where they are and provide a safe space. I embrace a decolonized approach to therapy, and enjoy working in collaboration with clients. I have a special interest in working with individuals experiencing challenges with their body image and eating. I also work with folks managing life transitions, processing trauma, or simply trying to figure out the next step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy looks different for everyone. I embrace a flexible approach, where we establish rapport before diving into any of the "big stuff". We will work together to identify which interventions work best and are accessible to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is typically more "sterile", as it is the intake. What I mean by this is there is an established list of documents that need to be completed during this session. These documents are required for your health insurance to pay for services, referral tracking, authorizations etc. All of this tends to create an environment that promotes pathologizing, a "tell me what's wrong with you" vibe. After the first session we will get into what you hope to achieve in the therapeutic space. This helps create the treatment plan that helps track our progress. We establish a rapport that lends itself to your healing process. As sessions proceed we will work together to identify which interventions work best for you.
