Getting to know Darlene Nicks
I practice a strength-based, holistic approach to therapy, using a variety of theories and techniques tailored to each individual's personality and needs. I believe everyone possesses the natural ability to reach their most evolved and emotionally intelligent self, and it is my privilege to help others discover and develop their strengths and resources. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Alabama A&M University and am a Licensed Social Worker licensed in Alabama, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. My experience spans over 10 years working with individuals, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with addictions, work issues, domestic violence, housing insecurity, parenting challenges, infertility, aging and death, mood disorders, trauma, and chronic medical conditions.
When working with me, the focus will be on clients’ inner strengths, empowerment, spiritual connection, human relationships, and the dignity and worth of each person. With therapeutic support, clients can begin using mindfulness to grow through what they have experienced. The therapeutic environment I provide is empathic, holistic, and safe, where clients become empowered to better understand themselves and build on the strengths they already possess.
Together, we will work to recover balance and clarity for those struggling to regulate emotions and self-esteem, focusing on trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, attachment difficulties, and relationship and family issues.
