“Darren is a wonderful listener who has great insight and really makes you feel understood. He is empathetic but also energetic, and helped me figure out what was really at the core of something. He then helped me come up with a plan to work though it. He's proactive, and while he listens he also encourages you. Super easy to talk to!!! So glad I went!”

Getting to know Darren Harvey

I have worked with individuals who struggle with severe, persistent mental illness—along with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse disorders. Always ensuring I meet individuals where they are in order to better reach them. Providing the most acceptable care for clients’ needs. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My slogan is “ I believe in making a difference one person at a time” It is important to develop a connection with all individuals that I am serving and offering them options to possibly making a difference in their lives. With that being said, I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their life, all they need to have is the proper motivation and support. I do believe some issues are formulated from the family of origin and it is important to identify those issues which often play a part in dysfunctional relationships. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. Just a little information about myself. I am currently in recovery with 27 years clean. I also have had my own struggles with anxiety and depression. Through my own therapy, I was able to develop skills to cope with my emotions. Also, I attend 12 step groups to further maintain my recovery support. I am very open minded individual who will always do what is best for the individuals I serve. One thing I always say is, “ If I short change you, then I short change me”.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
