Getting to know Darron Garner

Many of us struggle with trauma-related issues that seem to have no solutions. It may feel like our problems are present at every turn, no matter what we do, adding more and more weight for us to carry. We may feel so burdened that we begin to give up on ourselves. You're not destined to suffer, however, and you have the ability within yourself to cope with your problems and lessen this burden. We all have the potential to learn, and counseling can help you understand and optimize that potential. I specialize in helping individuals, families, and groups work through their struggles to live their best lives. It's important for me to bring an outlook of objectivity to therapy and truly understand each person's thoughts and emotions. I use trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and other eclectic models to help individuals. I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Northwestern State University and went on to earn my Master of Social Work degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I also earned my Doctor of Philosophy from Prairie View A&M University. I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience providing intake assessment and therapy in private practice and inpatient hospitalization settings.
