Davi Gendel, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with my Master's in Social Welfare in 2002 and have been fully licensed since 2005. I spent the first 15 years of my career working with children and families. When I pivoted to working with adults almost 10 years ago, I took many of the lessons I learned working with families with me. That experience has given me a deeper insight into the types of dynamics that have shaped my clients' lives. It has also given me the experience to work with parents who are struggling, or people who want to become parents but first want to learn to break generational patterns. I have worked with people in all stages of life, focusing mostly on helping individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and family or relational concerns. I am also an LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity-affirming therapist whose role is to help you flourish as the most true and complete version of yourself. Ultimately, I see my job as helping my clients through transitions so that they feel more confident and connected in their lives, including in work, love, friendship, and creativity. If we are successful, my job is to put myself out of a job. I have seen many clients over the years create lasting change that enables them to no longer need me, and that is truly something to celebrate. It is my honor to walk part of your life's path alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is to blend traditional psychotherapy, which emphasizes your mind’s thoughts and feelings, with somatic therapy and mindfulness. Using a combined mind-body approach allows me to tailor my approach to you and your unique needs. We will also laugh. That isn’t what most people think of when they think of therapy, but growth can be joyous, and we will find those moments and embrace them along the way. Regardless of what approach we decide on, I believe the most important part of therapy is establishing a safe and authentic connection.
