Hello, I'm David, MSW, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My service philosophy is deeply rooted in ethics, personal experience, and academics. I firmly believe in a non-judgmental approach to therapy. Had I been judged when I reached out for help, I doubt I'd have any of the wonderful blessings in my life that I do: wonderful and successful children, supportive relationships, and a genuine sense of purpose. My purpose is to give all clients the time and space to experience, reflect upon, and define their goals and meaning. In our sessions, we avoid labeling things as 'bad' or 'good' or 'right' or 'wrong.' Instead, we focus on what is 'healthy' or 'unhealthy' as defined by you. Together, we develop behaviors and beliefs that help you feel the way you want. I provide perspectives, information, and education to assist you in making your own choices, and we carefully weigh the perceived outcomes. I encourage all clients to express disagreement with any opinion I provide to promote honest expression. Sometimes, listening is enough because we didn't feel heard or felt we didn't have a voice. I am familiar and comfortable working with family systems, interpersonal relationships, mood disorders, medication compliance, and substance abuse issues. I am knowledgeable of 12-step recovery principles and relapse prevention. My professional journey has taken me through both inpatient and outpatient facilities, giving me a broad perspective on the resources available locally and nationally.
