I'm David Durpetti. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois, where I began my practice as a therapist. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Chicago. I moved to Asheville, NC because I fell in love with the region, the mountains, the people, and the milder winters. I am a husband and proud father of a college student and toddler. These are challenging but extremely fulfilling roles, and I wouldn't change them for the world. I have spent many years working with child abuse, neglect, and trauma, which has helped shape me both as a person and as a therapist. I believe my background has given me the ability to empathize deeply with the struggles and experiences people face in their everyday lives. I have also spent time in healthcare settings and understand the challenges hospital staff, first responders, and medical professionals encounter, as well as how these experiences affect their lives and emotional well-being. For several years, I taught accredited courses in trauma, anxiety, and depression as an adjunct professor at Aurora University. With over 20 years of experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, sexualities, races, and ethnicities, I have gained invaluable insights that help me relate to and achieve positive results with a wide variety of clients. In my free time, I enjoy sports, hiking, spending time in nature, being with my family, and watching movies.
