Hi there, I'm David! Hello, my name is David Gonzales, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Visalia, CA, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from California State University, Fresno. I work with adults, veterans, and teens and specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, anger management, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and substance abuse. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of the clients I work with. I most frequently use EMDR therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Both modalities are forms of psychotherapy that aim to reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions. My goal is to work collaboratively with clients to better understand their symptoms and realities and to help improve their overall quality of life. My focus I have found that my style and experience are a good fit for adults and teens dealing with stressful life experiences, trauma, anxiety, and depression. As a Veteran myself, I feel comfortable working with fellow Veterans who may be dealing with PTSD or difficulties transitioning back to civilian life. These mental health conditions often increase the risk for co-occurring substance abuse disorders. For substance use disorders, my goal is to help clients learn to cope with mental health symptoms in a positive way without the use of controlled substances. My communication style My communication style is calm, personable, and non-judgmental. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen and respond with empathy and without judgment.
