Getting to know David Horn
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, USA. This means that I am licensed by the state of Texas to practice professional counseling. My counseling practice primarily includes children, adolescents, families, and groups. I focus on personal growth, behavior modification, and relationship counseling. I also provide Pastoral Counseling to those requesting it. I have training and experience in this combination of counseling for over 8 years.
I have an Associates Degree in Missions from Sunset International Bible Institute, a Bachelors of Art in Psychology from Lubbock Christian University, and a Masters of Education in Counselor Education from Texas Tech University Graduate School. I also receive consultation as needed. I have lived in France and New Zealand as a missionary. I began counseling at a community center on Ave. A in Lubbock, TX. This place provides services to a wide range of needs and populations. This is where I completed my practicum in professional counseling.
I accept only clients who I believe have the capacity to resolve their own problems with my assistance. I believe that as people become more accepting of themselves, they are capable of finding peace and contentment in their lives. However, self-awareness and self-acceptance are goals that take time to achieve. Sometimes this may require months or even years. If counseling is successful, you should feel that you are able to face life’s challenges without my support or intervention. However, please be aware that neither I nor any counselor can guarantee that counseling will be successful. Your greatest asset in counseling will be you; the open, honest, real you.
Although our sessions may be very intense emotionally and psychologically, it is important for you to realize that we have a professional relationship rather than a personal relationship. Our contact will be limited to the therapeutic time you have with me. Please do not invite me to social gath
What should a new client know about working with you?
My sessions typically end with homework assignments. I find interactive assignments especially helpful to online counseling to help bridge the gap of virtual therapy. My goal is first to reduce symptoms and then to explore feelings and disruptive cognitions deeper inside to find causal factors. My overall goal is to work myself out of job, to give you the tools and know-how to tackle your situations with your own power and creativity.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
