Getting to know David Matheson

The problems we struggle with seek to define and marginalize our identities as humans. The power that various problems seek to have in our lives can leave us feeling lost, helpless, and alone. Counseling can be a great place to begin to separate our identities from our struggles, where the problem does not get to define us as humans. My goal is to join you in this process and support the creation of a new identity, where the problem no longer gets to hold the mirror from which our own reflections are seen. I specialize in Narrative Therapy in my work as a counselor. This theory is rooted in the belief that people are not defined by the problems they may be struggling with; the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem.
