“David has been good at hearing my issues and expanding on my problems. This simple challenge has allowed me to really think about myself and my reasons for going to therapy. He has shared calming techniques that have been helpful. He is very attentive in hearing me out. This definitely makes me feel heard. He has introduced me to recognizing cognitive distortions and how to recognize and change these distorted views of thinking. I appreciate David and the work he is doing at Rula.”

Getting to know David Saldana

My name is David Saldana. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a specialization in working with adolescents and adults, especially those impacted by various forms of trauma. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I draw from research and clinical experience, along with an understanding of your unique background and strengths, to create an individualized plan that helps you meet your goals. My approach I consider myself an eclectic therapist, pulling from various treatment modalities that best fit you and your needs. Some common approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, DBT, and occasionally some Psychodynamic techniques. My focus I typically work with adolescents facing challenges at home or school. I also have experience supporting re-entry populations and adults seeking another opportunity to get back on their feet and achieve their aspirations. My communication style I strive to create an authentic environment for those I work with. You will find someone who actively listens, engages, and genuinely invests in your personal growth. Many clients share that they open up to me in ways they haven’t with anyone else. It’s a space built on trust and accountability. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist has been a meaningful one. Though initially uncertain, encouragement from others and my growing education and professional experiences confirmed that this is where God wanted me to be. Coming from a family of Servant Leaders, serving my community and those I work with motivates me daily to be a better person and a better provider. I strive to improve myself and my practice every day.
