Getting to know David Walker

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor that has been provided psychotherapy since 2011. I use a client-centered empathic approach while working with clients to alleviate the root causes of emotional discomfort or distress. The hope is to promote a collaborative resolution and empower personal growth. Healing and healthy functioning means confronting unhealthy behaviors, rediscovering ones self-worth, learning to regulate emotions, being honest and accountable, and living a life of purpose.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize a non-judgmental, compassionate approach towards those that I works with. I have experience working with a broad range of clientele and diagnoses including: Trauma, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Survivors of Physical/Sexual/Psychological Abuse, Substance Abuse, Relationship Issues, and Grief/Loss. I typically utilizes many modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and additionally, I have been advanced and enhanced trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This is a form of psychotherapy that works directly in reprograming the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong emotional and physical reactions…Keep the memory and lose the pain! Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART does not require in-depth details of the traumatic event to resolve it. Self-care is valued and promoted to clients as I enjoy working with my hands in a variety of contexts including: working on vintage vehicles, tinkering in my at-home shop, building, repairing, and completing satisfying projects. I love being a provider and actively spending time with my wife and children.
