David Williams graduated from Brigham Young University's Mental Health Counseling program in 1997 and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Since graduating, he has helped both teens and adults overcome mood and anxiety issues, addictions, trauma, and behavioral issues. Before starting full-time private practice in 2008, he worked at Provo Canyon School and LDS Family Services.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Welcome! I'm Dave. For over 25 years, I’ve helped adults and teens overcome excessive stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, unresolved trauma, and painful relationship patterns. Life brings very real and difficult challenges—but I’ve witnessed, again and again, that true healing and lasting change are absolutely possible. I thoroughly enjoy helping clients get to the root of things and create more abundant lives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I go beyond symptom management. My work helps clients deeply understand the emotional patterns that keep them stuck—and move through them into more joyful, fulfilling lives. My approach begins with thoughtful assessment, followed by the creation of real healing experiences. We don’t just talk in circles about the same issues week after week. Instead, clients learn and experience the power of strategies such as schema therapy, somatic work, mindfulness, spiritual/ faith work, EMDR, self-compassion, guided imagery, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
