Have you ever wished someone could just understand you without having to explain yourself over and over again? Maybe you've spent years feeling different, questioning yourself, or trying to fit into expectations that don't quite work for you. Or maybe you're a parent doing everything you can to support your neurodivergent child while wondering who's there to support you. 💛 Hi, I'm Dawn! I work with adults navigating ADHD, autism, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and the unique experiences that come with being neurodivergent or loving someone who is. I also support couples, college students, and people healing from betrayal or religious trauma. I believe therapy should be a place where you can finally feel understood, not judged, fixed, or told you're doing life wrong. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel more confident in your relationships, and find practical ways to make life feel a little more manageable. You deserve support that makes sense for you, and I'd love to be part of that journey!

What should a new client know about working with you?

First, you don't have to have everything figured out before coming to therapy! You don't need the perfect words, a clear plan, or even a full understanding of why you're struggling. We'll figure that out together. 😊 My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you know yourself better than anyone else. I'm not here to tell you who you should be or how you should live your life. I'm here to help you understand what's been weighing on you, recognize your strengths, and find ways to move forward that actually fit your life. I especially enjoy working with people who have spent a long time feeling misunderstood, whether that's because of ADHD, autism, past experiences, family dynamics, or difficult relationships. I draw from ACT, CBT, IFS, and trauma-focused approaches, but I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. You can expect genuine empathy, curiosity, and a space where you don't have to pretend everything is okay when it isn't. 💛

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are really about getting to know you. What's been going on? What feels hardest right now? What have you already tried? And most importantly, what would you like to feel different in your life? There's no pressure to share everything right away. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable while building trust and figuring out what kind of support would be most helpful. Depending on your needs, we might explore how past experiences affect your relationships, work through anxiety or self-doubt, find practical strategies for navigating ADHD or autism, or talk about the challenges of parenting a neurodivergent child. Sometimes therapy is about processing something painful, and other times it's about finally having someone help you make sense of what you're experiencing. I offer virtual therapy throughout Michigan, so you can join from a comfortable, private space that works for you. And if a pet makes a surprise appearance, that's always welcome! 🐾 My hope is that you leave our sessions feeling a little more understood, supported, and confident in your ability to navigate whatever life brings.
