Getting to know Dawn Torres

I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2017. I have previously worked with acute patients on inpatient psychiatric units. I briefly facilitated substance abuse outpatient therapy with active duty members. I am an Air Force Veteran and understand the difficulties of work stress, deployments, reintegration, and transition to civilian life. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and life transitions (divorce, blended families, etc). I use a person-centered approach with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for treating depression and anxiety; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to treat interpersonal issues, and emotional dysregulation; Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to treat PTSD and trauma related disorders. I also use attachment-based theories, mindfulness, internal family systems, and positive psychology. I use a multimodal approach for treating substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
