Getting to know Dawn Witherspoon
Dawn Witherspoon’s journey into the field of mental health was born from personal tragedy. Having experienced profound loss and the absence of adequate support, she discovered her passion and purpose in helping others navigate life’s most difficult moments. Her mission is to provide the compassion, guidance, and tools that empower individuals to draw strength from their past while developing new skills to move forward toward peace, resilience, and wholeness.
Dawn holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Carlos Albizu University and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. She specializes in supporting individuals through Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), adjustment disorders, depression, and complicated grief.
Her dedication to service extends beyond counseling. Dawn actively advocates for first responders and their families, spending time in state and national capitols to work alongside legislators on initiatives that improve lives within these communities. Her efforts have been recognized with multiple honors, including a nomination for the MADD Florida Hero Recognition Award (2019), participation in an award-winning police training video on compassionate death notifications (2020), and the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2021) for more than 4,000 hours of volunteer service.
In addition to her clinical work, Dawn is the President and Founder of The For Paul Foundation, serves on the Board of Directors for the National EMS Memorial Service, and holds the role of Vice Chair for the Florida Fire Chiefs Foundation.
Outside of her professional and advocacy work, Dawn cherishes time traveling with her family and being surrounded by her pets.
