Dayna Quezada, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
My name is Dayna Quezada, owner of Cozy Nook Counseling PLLC and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I hold a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Bachelor's degree from Park University. I specialize in providing treatment geared toward trauma, including but not limited to sexual assault, early childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, secondary traumatic stress, and community violence. I have years of experience treating adults who are also mental health providers and those who are high-functioning members of society. All too often, stigma stands in the way for many to seek mental health services. I strongly believe in providing a space where individuals feel their unique experiences will be heard and where they will be seen for who they are and the struggles they may be facing. Success does not equal immunity to mental health struggles, and I am here to provide support for navigating through those thought distortions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session with me typically consists of a review of limits of confidentiality, consent, and therapeutic expectations. After the review of the information I like to provide a safe and judgement free platform for clients to express their concerns with me and let me get to know them better. I provide support while really taking the time to listen to their needs and potential goals within their therapy journey. I also encourage clients to ask questions pertaining to my background or therapeutic approach for them to gain more insight into working with me. I encourage my clients to consistently provide feedback and let me know if something is or is not working for them within the therapeutic relationship in order to make any adjustments. I utilize validation consistently and allow for clients to gain a sense of support. Honesty is important through the therapeutic journey so at times I prompt clients with gentle confrontation to help them take a step back and view things differently to aid in gaining insight and understanding.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session with me typically consists of a review of limits of confidentiality, consent, and therapeutic expectations. After the review of the information I like to provide a safe and judgement free platform for clients to express their concerns with me and let me get to know them better. Following sessions consist of exploring therapy goals with clients. This is extremely individualized to their presenting needs. I work with the client to build rapport and gain understanding of their struggles. Once this has been worked on, I will discuss my thoughts with the client pertaining to possible goals and areas of struggle I may see. I will always ask the client for feedback and make sure the client understands the goals and works with me in creating the goals for themselves. I want my clients to feel heard and supported.
