Hi there, I'm Deanna! My name is Deanna Childers, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) based in southern Illinois. I currently offer telehealth appointments to those residing in Illinois. I work with teens and young adults utilizing an eclectic therapeutic approach. My approach My therapeutic approach varies based on the needs of the client. I utilize a combination of evidence-based practices tailored to the client so that we may work together to achieve their goals for therapy. My focus I focus on teens and young adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and stressors. Areas of focus include anxiety, stress, ADHD, depression, Autism, as well as work stress and anger management. My communication style My communication style is calm and personable. I want clients to feel comfortable as we create a space free of judgment that allows them to discuss any topic they are comfortable with. My journey to mental healthcare I have worked in mental health for over a decade. As a foster parent in the early 2000s, I saw firsthand how those children needed support and encouragement. Later, I worked in a residential setting for kids and teens, which only strengthened my desire to be a helper. In 2013, I began the journey to obtain my master's degree in counseling from Missouri Baptist University. That degree has allowed me to work within private practice settings to assist kids, teens, and young adults within my community.
