Deanna Wathen, LPCA

Psychotherapist
1907 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY
It takes time and courage to seek out a therapist. I'm honored you landed here. Inviting a therapist to walk with you in whatever season of life you're in is a privilege. I utilize IFS parts work, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), art, and somatic techniques in my therapeutic approach. I view therapy as a co-creative space where clients can bring up struggles in relationships (with friends, partners, family, etc.), life transitions, addiction/recovery, anxiety, spiritual/religious trauma, or just struggles of the human experience in general and know they are in a nonjudgmental, safe space. I hold a MEd in Human Development Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College, which informs my compassionate and client-centered approach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize a blend of therapeutic strategies including art, movement, and body awareness techniques, alongside Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As a certified Yoga Teacher, I'll also integrate mindfulness and somatic practices to enhance your emotional awareness and self-discovery.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work with a variety of clients including those who are new to therapy, wanting to make a change in how they show up, or needing a listening ear. During our initial sessions, I spend time collaborating on the goals you have and discussing the things you hope to gain in the therapeutic experience.
