Getting to know Debbie Hanford

Hello, my name is Debbie, and I find the above quote so powerful. Life is filled with ups and downs. How we perceive and deal with these inevitable fluctuations is what matters most. So often, when we are under stress, the past comes back to remind us of previous mistakes and regrets that we are powerless to change. Our experiences define, to a great degree, how we experience our sense of self, our connections with others, and our relationship with the world at large. On the other hand, we may find ourselves worrying about the future-events that have yet to happen, yet still consume our minds. This can result in increased fear and anxiety, preoccupied thoughts, depression, and a negative outlook for what lies ahead. When we live in the past or try to jump ahead to predict what is coming our way, we lose sight of the present moment. It is in the here and now that we can treat ourselves with compassion, forgiveness, and kindness. Today is when we can take proactive and positive actions to release the past that we cannot undo while taking steps toward a fulfilling and rewarding future. If you struggle with anxiety, phobias, insomnia, depression, trauma, and/or relational issues, I am here to help. Therapy is a safe place to learn, grow, heal, and be validated. Together, we will explore the obstacles you face and ways to move forward in your life with positivity, self-awareness, and confidence. I hold a Master's in Social Work from New York University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I see the therapeutic relationship as a partnership. Every session is an opportunity to feel heard, gain some knowledge and self-awareness, and walk away with clear next steps to strive toward goals. I am a very action-oriented clinician. I believe that processing thoughts and feelings and taking positive and realistic steps toward our desires is critical to healing and recovery.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
