Getting to know Deborah Guidetti-Gerwien

Hello, my name is Debbie Guidetti Gerwien, and I have been a Social Worker for 30 years. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. Over my career, I have worked with a variety of age groups. Most recently, I have been working with individuals with psychiatric diagnoses, helping them navigate their illness to live a happy, productive life. I have worked successfully with individuals diagnosed with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and many others. Some of the modalities and techniques I use include supportive counseling, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, progressive relaxation, and reminiscence counseling, to name a few. During a first session, you can expect to explain your presenting issue and why you are seeking therapy, as well as have a chance to develop a working relationship. After a few sessions, hopefully you will feel that the sessions are helping, and you can continue until you feel completely better. Some of the tools that might be used are depression screening, anxiety screening, and a mini mental exam. I would say my strength is my ability to listen and help individuals expand on their strengths to better address the challenges they are facing.

Individuals can expect to take away tools they can use to better navigate the challenges that they are facing. They can also expect to feel better as they have been heard in their struggles and have valid solutions to their challenges.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
