Getting to know Deborah K Mestas

My name is Deborah K. Mestas, M.A., L.C.P.C. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor. Although I’ve been in practice for more than ten years, I've been serving the Northbrook community since 2010. My passion is helping people find their way when life gets tough through empowerment and enrichment strategies. I embrace a holistic approach to psychotherapy and utilize the initial interview to assess how to provide comprehensive consultation and psychological services as I identify each person’s unique therapeutic goals. I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, Illinois School of Professional Psychology-Chicago, with post-degree training in traumatic stress disorders using eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR); OCD and other anxiety-related disorders training using exposure response prevention (ERP); and calming stress responses for grief, loss, and interpersonal challenges using mediation and conflict resolution. Additionally, I have an extensive background advocating for children and families of children with special needs. I am a fierce advocate for children who suffer from emotional problems that impact their ability to receive a free, appropriate public education. I utilize an integrated therapeutic approach that can include psychodynamic, insight-oriented, and/or cognitive behavioral therapy. This practice does not accept Medicare or Medicaid.

I am pleased with my therapist. been seeing her for many years. Without my therapy I would have had a difficult time functioning at my job as well as in my home life.

Great psychologist, The co-pays are economical and fair. Cash financing is quite fair as well. They have a huge meditation area with salt water baths. The office contains many luxuries like cucumber water in the waiting room which is great for long waits. Arriving in the room she will explain her protocols for counseling, this takes about 5 minutes for orientation, then there is usually 45-50 minutes for the actual counseling. this is a great psychologist unfortunately Medicare does cover a major portion but medicaid is not taken at this office, use caution if you are of extremely low income and need zero co-pay. otherwise, one very good psychologist who does a good job!

Excellent, very helpful and always has been. She has helped me thru issues I did not even realize I had. When she moved her office I went with her no matter if the ride is longer I would not change.

Great, she is very understanding & professional. She had me think for myself with her guidance with questions to learn to understand my emotions. This visit is challenging but necessary to grow in understanding myself. She is a caring and thoughtful counselor, who took her time to learn about me to help me though my problems.
