Psychotherapist
VA
Deborah Parker is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, Colorado, Ohio, South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. She provides Telehealth services in both states. Deborah is not a medication prescriber but offers mental health therapy services focused on helping individuals who have experienced childhood trauma. These clients often struggle to feel connected and secure in their relationships and to find peace in their daily lives. Deborah is passionate about helping people understand how trauma impacts the brain, body, and behaviors, guiding them toward healing. Many of her clients face symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Deborah’s approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based method that helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, enabling them to make positive, lasting changes. She assists clients in recognizing their physical responses to external stressors and supports them in problem-solving ways to introduce moments of calm, choosing to respond rather than react to change. Her style is interactive and non-judgmental, focused on ensuring clients see real progress. Deborah empowers clients to gain confidence in influencing their own lives and overcoming adverse experiences. As a trauma-informed therapist, she understands how past experiences impact present challenges and walks alongside clients on their journey toward self-compassion and healing. Deborah begins every new therapeutic relationship by creating a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. An experienced Telehealth provider, she offers the convenience of remote sessions tailored to each client’s unique needs. Deborah holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, a Master’s in Counseling and Human Relations from Liberty University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am passionate about trauma work. I absolutely love it! Just know that when you finally decide to address your childhood trauma(s), we WILL work. This isn't just talk therapy here. We will look at your inner core messages, when and how they develop, how to reprogram those negative core messages like, "I'm not good enough." We will identify negative self-talk, challenge it, and change it.
