Getting to know Debra Younger

My name is Debra Younger and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a trauma-informed therapist, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCPT), an EMDR-trained clinician, and an Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed Therapist. I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) integrated with EMDR to help you process trauma, understand your internal system, and restore balance and resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am committed to offering a safe, supportive, and caring space where you can gently explore and address your life’s challenges. Whether you are wrestling with self-esteem concerns, harsh inner critic voices, depression, anxiety, early childhood trauma, attachment wounds, spiritual struggles, work/life balance, anger management, emotional regulation, grief and loss, military or first responder trauma, interpersonal relationship difficulties, PTSD, or CPTSD — you do not have to face it alone. Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri, I spent over 33 years serving as a Registered Nurse. I am an Ordained Minister and Chaplain with the Civil Air Patrol, and I am a proud U.S. Army Veteran. These roles have strengthened my commitment to serving those who serve others, as well as individuals navigating trauma and life transitions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In my practice I use two primary modalities: EMDR and Internal Family Systems, either individually or integrated depending on your needs and goals. In our initial sessions we will discuss what brought you to therapy, assess for any type of trauma history and together we will decide the best way to start addressing your goals. That will include me providing education on IFS and EMDR, if needed so, that you can make an informed decision. In subsequent sessions we will implement the plan through the use of IFS and or IFS integrated with EMDR to meet your goals.
