Hi there, I'm Deirdre! My name is Deirdre Ekholdt, LCSW. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University and have been working as a psychotherapist for 20 years. Originally from Chicago, I have traveled widely and lived in Hong Kong, Florida, and now Connecticut. My focus is to assist my clients in reducing the roadblocks of anxiety, thought rumination, addiction, and codependency through somatic approaches and behavioral/skill-building techniques. My approach Relationships, self-esteem, resilience, and self-advocacy are some of our most basic needs in life, and I specialize in helping you build skills to empower yourself. I utilize DBT, CBT, EFT, mindfulness (and associated behavioral techniques), integrative medicine, and other evidence-based therapy interventions. My focus Anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, life transitions such as going off to college, divorce, midlife, complicated anxiety, and mood disorders. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to pursue an MSW after university as it became apparent to me that our mental narratives are only part of what limits us—that it’s crucial to our successful happiness in life within our relationships, work, school, and later life.
