Deja Crayton is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A) in Texas who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, trauma, and challenges with self-esteem or feeling stuck. Her therapeutic approach is primarily person-centered, emphasizing empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. She also takes a holistic perspective, considering how relationships, past experiences, culture, environment, and personal values can influence emotional well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is primarily person-centered, emphasizing empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. I believe therapy should be collaborative rather than prescriptive; instead of simply telling clients what to do, I work alongside them to explore their experiences, identify patterns, recognize personal strengths, and determine what meaningful change looks like for them. I also take a holistic perspective, considering how relationships, past experiences, culture, environment, and personal values can influence emotional well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe you know yourself and your life better than anyone else, and I am not here to tell you who you should be. Instead, I will work alongside you to better understand your experiences, explore what may be keeping you feeling stuck, and help you identify the changes that feel meaningful to you. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we will move at a pace that feels appropriate for you. My hope is that, over time, you leave our work together with greater self-awareness, confidence, and a stronger sense of connection to yourself.
