Getting to know Denise Garner
Working with individuals, couples, and groups in churches, hospitals, community health, and hospice settings has afforded me the opportunity to support those who have suffered a loss and are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and adjustment disorders. I hold a Master's in Social Work from North Carolina State University and a Master's in Religious Studies from Shaw University, which enrich my approach to care. My objective is to provide a safe, supportive space for you to heal and grow.
What should a new client know about working with you?
As we have all heard before: "No two people are alike" so I prefer to use an Eclectic Therapy approach that supports individualized treatment goals. My style is direct, but gentle with a little humor as needed.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I offer Telehealth sessions for clients and clinical supervision for social workers on weekends and some evenings during the week. Providing care you deserve while serving as a support to those who have suffered a loss through the use of talk therapy is one of my practice preferences. The goal is to work through your grief with an understanding of the stages of loss and grief.
