Getting to know Denise Molina

Denise Molina, is an LCSW and EMDR-trained psychotherapist dedicated to helping adults navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, major life transitions, and personal growth. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and Denise’s goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood. With 20 years of experience, Denise uses a compassionate, client-centered approach, blending evidence-based techniques with warmth and empathy. She specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process difficult experiences, overcome emotional blocks, find relief from old patterns, and build inner strength. The focus of her work is on empowering individuals to build resilience and to cultivate healthier, more sustainable ways of living. Denise’s approach is collaborative; you will work together to help you heal past wounds, build effective coping skills, and move toward a more fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

There are many different kinds of therapy that accomplish different things. The therapies that I practice focuses on helping people to build insight into what’s happened to them in order to help them continue to grow and reach for their potential! If you feel held back by your past, this approach may be right for you. It’s unique in that many kinds of therapy believe that you need to be healed and that there is something wrong with you, that you have an illness. I believe not that we have an injury, but that something is blocking our strength. EMDR and the other therapeutic tools I offer use a strategy that has been backed by more than 38 years of evidence across our field to help this happen consistently. It has a roadmap for us to follow. Although your roadmap will be unique, we will pass the same landmarks that everyone else passes throughout the process. As an experienced guide, I hope to show the way through your past. For some, it’s not clear how the past may be holding us back, but we know that we keep falling into the same patterns over and over again, and want it to stop. I also have techniques for addressing this as well, it’s part of the roadmap, and our past is usually involved. Therapy goes through several stages that I’ll guide you through. There are homework exercises to make sure that the stages stick. Rather than thinking of it as being an intimidating, large commitment, try to think of it as a thorough procedure to help you with no corners cut. The end result is that you can walk away from what’s bothered you as someone with the strength to accomplish their goals unburdened.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically work with clients on a weekly basis, especially when using EMDR. The spots that I have available to book are often the spots that clients end up taking as a weekly appointment. If you decide that I’m the right fit for your situation, schedule an appointment, and my office manager will reach out to you with links to fill out intake paperwork and check your insurance if you’re using insurance for the appointment. During our first appointments, we’ll create a treatment plan together that you can count on to lead us through the therapeutic journey. Though some issues can take longer to work through, I expect our work to follow a plan that we come up with together.
