I am Derrick Singleton, a licensed professional counselor with over 14 years of experience working as a mental health counselor. I have been married for 24 years to Wyvonia Singleton. I am a 1988 Blytheville High School graduate. I am a “middle child.” I have a working background as a case manager at the Department of Human Services along with student teaching and an Adjunct Professor at ASU- Newport. I received my master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Arkansas State University in 2010. On a professional level, I have worked for Families Inc., 11 years, LSCI Life Strategies Counseling for 13 years and currently at Delta Behavioral Health for over 6 months, all in the Mississippi County area. I have been working in this area for over 24 years and I work with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, substance abuse, sex offenders family sessions and ADHD. I also assist clients in unpacking their physical trauma or emotional abuse, although I am not certified in any specific trauma area. I offer a warm and nonjudgemental approach to counseling but I do think a holistic approach is appropriate with some clients. I am always excited about the client/counselor experience and assisting the client in fulfilling their goals while taking the first steps towards change. I also see myself as a teacher of sorts.
