“Desire Is a careful listener who pays attention to detail. She’s thoughtful and friendly as well. Appointments with her are not “clinical”, more like opening up to an old friend. I spent the better part of 50 some weeks with Desire, working through my own trauma. I never thought I’d achieve the results I got from therapy with her but by is life so much better now. She uses techniques that we agreed might work for me and we stuck to the program. I’m honored to leave this review of my experience and hope you consider Desire. ”

Getting to know Desire Winslow

I love working with people who are suffering from anxiety, depression, grief, sex addiction, and trauma. I am excited to work with those who are willing to dig in deep to get at the root of their problems. With a Master’s in Social Work from West Texas A&M University, I’m ready to help you clean up past hurts and make room for personal growth. I work with individuals ages 10 to 110 and see both individuals and couples. I often take an eclectic approach to meet your needs and help you reach your goals. I will walk through the difficult places with you, and hopefully, you will come out lighter, free to move past what’s been keeping you stuck.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have worked in Mental Health (MH) since 2008, which is when I dedicated my life to helping people suffering from MH issues. I am knowledgeable about the system and all of the affliction that comes with it. Recovery is possible; I've witnessed it! I'd love to be a part of your recovery journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

With any therapy that brings lasting gains, there will be work. I will usually ask you try to implement new strategies in your day-to-day life so that real changes can take place, in that life. I will work with you at your pace. Typically, patients will gain results (decrease of problematic symptoms and/or increase in daily functioning) in 8-12 sessions, depending on the intervention chosen.

A transformative experience & saved marriage! Working with Desire has been truly life-changing for both me & my partner. We initially came to her hoping to improve our communication as a couple, but what we received was so much more; genuine healing, deep insight, & unwavering support. Desire created a safe, compassionate space where we could finally open up to one another without fear or judgment. Her ability to navigate the complexities of trauma, PTSD, and substance abuse while helping us strengthen our relationship was nothing short of remarkable. She helped us uncover patterns we didn’t even realize were affecting us, & gave us tools to not only communicate better but to truly understand & support each other on a deeper level. Thanks to her, we’re thriving, both individually & as a couple. If you’re looking for a therapist who is intuitive, skilled, real & genuinely invested in your growth, I can't recommend Desire highly enough. She’s helped us change our lives for the better.
Working with Desire one of the most painful times in my life was a gift I didn’t know I needed. Grieving the loss of a loved one can feel isolating, but she helped me feel seen, heard, and understood every step of the way. Her compassionate presence, gentle guidance, and ability to hold space for deep emotion made all the difference. I never felt rushed or judged—just supported. Thanks to our work together, I’ve learned how to honor my grief while beginning to move forward with hope. I’m incredibly grateful.
