Hi, I am Desiree.
My counseling style is warm and approachable. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My specialty has been working with children, adolescents, and adults who have complex trauma stemming from abuse, neglect, or other life events. I have also worked with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, addiction, coping with the pandemic, relationship issues, parenting challenges, childhood trauma, career challenges, adjustment to life changes, and grief/loss.
I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida. I am also a Certified Telehealth Professional through the Florida Certification Board.
I truly believe that rapport and therapeutic relationships are essential for therapy to be successful. Therefore, we will take time to ensure I am the right fit for you, and I will never be offended if you feel you need a different approach. It takes courage to take the steps to start counseling, and I will honor and respect your journey through this season of life. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to walk alongside you with encouragement and support!

What should a new client know about working with you?
Our first session will be a get to know each other session to determine if we are a good fit to begin our journey. After the first session we will identify things, you would like to address, and we will create a plan to address concerns. I believe the therapeutic process involves practicing the things we discuss during the week along with small goals for the week which are developed during sessions.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

So far, I've been really appreciating my sessions with Desiree. She's giving me some really simple and achievable goals to focus on during a rough transition in my life, yet the goals themselves are personally challenging for me. This tells me she's really listening, and our sessions are helping me define and practice healthier ways to care for myself.

My only disappointment is that I chose this provider for my teenage daughter and she did like her first visit. She was told an email to schedule a follow up would be sent and a weekly occurrence was recommended to start in order for them to get to know each other. When I set the initial appointment there were a bunch of available appointments but now that it’s time to set her next one, there is no availability for 6 months with this provider.

She is amazing. She helps it not be awkward as this was my first appt and first therapy appt ever. She truly listens and understands what you are going through. She does not judge you. She truly has a gift. Instead of throwing a bunch of information at you. She truly listens to you and then explains what she means. She also gives a plan on how to help 1 step at a time. I am actually looking forward to my next appointment instead of dreading it.
