Getting to know Diana Kelly

My name is Diana and I have been a social worker since I was 22 years old. During my career, I have worked in long term care with families and residents who needed support when coming into a new environment. Just like that experience of doing something new, I feel the same way about individual therapy. It does not need to be stigmatized, it does not need to be scary, it needs to be supportive in order to help my clients feel better about themselves and the lives they are leading. I like to call myself a "talk therapist" as I really truly feel that talking issues out can help everyone move forward in feeling better about life. I am a lesbian and I was widowed two years ago after being in a 30-year relationship. I understand grief firsthand and consider it one of the strongest areas I can help others with. Over the years, I have worked with those who have been diagnosed with mental health issues such as Bipolar Disorder, BPD, PTSD, ADHD, sexual issues, and those generally having issues with gender identity. Believe me when I say, I truly enjoy what I do because I feel everyone needs some help sometimes and the easiest way to get started is to simply jump in and give it a try. I am here to listen and guide those who want help. The work will always be done by the client and I feel as though sometimes my clients give me too much credit for the help I have provided. Again, I listen and guide, my clients do the work and always state they are stronger for having done so.
