Psychotherapist

Sometimes people feel overwhelmed by the process of starting therapy; they aren’t sure if it’s going to help. They might feel as if they need to be ten steps ahead of where they currently are and they can’t see a way forward, particularly when dealing with anxiety, trauma, depression, or life transitions, people can feel stuck and unsure of where to begin. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Diana is trained in both general psychotherapy theories and systems theory. This means she takes the individual’s whole system into account and considers how a family and/or a cultural system can affect an individual’s needs as she walks with you in your journey of becoming the best version of yourself. Diana believes in a holistic approach, tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique needs. Her therapeutic focus is on helping people break down what they want to change into smaller, more manageable steps with an empathetic approach, ensuring the process doesn’t feel too overwhelming. It’s a priority to her that people feel safe and comfortable with the therapist they choose, and she’s committed to sitting with people during their most vulnerable and challenging times, guiding them through the process and helping them identify where to begin by starting with the smaller steps. Diana received a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University, where she completed specialty training in sexual abuse therapy. She has extensive experience in inpatient, outpatient, and in-home crisis therapy throughout her career, which has provided her with a unique perspective on how to assist individuals at any stage of need. Her experience includes working in child sexual abuse therapy, couples and family therapy, and an array of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other trauma-related symptoms, self-harm behaviors, and self-esteem, among others.
