Getting to know Dionne Brooks

My practice focuses on helping couples stay together or separate with less pain. I use Intensive Couple Behavior Therapy (ICBT), an approach that helps couples reconnect their physical and emotional bonds. Additionally, I incorporate EMDR to treat trauma by gently reprocessing memories so they are stored in a less distressing way. My approach is warm, person-centered, and nonjudgmental. I hold a Master's in Social Welfare from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in supporting couples who feel challenged with intimacy. Emotional closeness is the glue that holds couples together. Many couples deal with desires that feel complicated or find it hard to communicate openly about sex. Together, we’ll work through these concerns and gain a deeper connection with your intimacy. At My Talk Therapy our approach is warm, person-centered, and nonjudgmental. Therapy should be a place where you feel heard, valued, and understood.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My Talk Therapy utilizes Emotionally focused Therapy. Many of the issues we face can feel isolating, but you don’t have to face them alone. We aim to provide practical strategies and insights to help you manage anxiety, improve communication, and find clarity. Together, we can work through the obstacles and emotions that may feel beyond your control, understanding that these struggles are neither your fault nor a burden you must carry by yourself.
