Do you feel lost or trapped in quicksand? That no matter how hard you try, things inyour life just do not work out the way you wish and want them to? Does it feel like thereare too many things working against you? Hi, I’m Dom. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand yourself and your own story. It is my goal as your therapist to walk alongside you and help you begin to unpack these serious questions and get to the root of what needs to change. Sometimes, that means choosing to approach problems differently. Often, that means changing how you think about your own life story. In rare instances, that can include making painful decision to develop healthy boundaries. Regardless of what the change looks like, it is not something that you need to go through alone. My work is rooted in reducing shame and building insight. Through our work, you will learn more about yourself and understand why you react a certain way to people and events in your life. We will work together so you are able to extend kindness and acceptance towards yourself when you’re struggling and being human. It is my hope that you will be able to walk away from our sessions with a profound and felt knowledge that “it’s ok to not be ok.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

You will find me using analogies, stories, and metaphors to help you understand complex aspects of the human experience, as that is part of how I see my world. Whether real or fantastical, stories have the power to change how we see the world and ourselves, to bridge the distance between people and cultures, to help us find meaning and truth in our lives. I want to know more about the stories you have been telling yourself; stories about who you are and how your world works. I will then challenge you to reflect on aspects of the stories you tell yourself, to see if that is what you want to continue believing. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University. I am trained in ACT and DBT which facilitate acceptance and reducing stigma and shame, and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) to understand how traumatic experiences leave lasting impacts on the human brain. Throughout my career in mental health, I have worked with adults of all ages; university students navigating life away from home for the first time or in a new country; people who have anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, and different kinds of traumas; queer and BIPOC individuals. As a queer and gender-expansive clinician, I have a deep passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community. As a former anabaptist Christian, I enjoy working with people to process religious trauma.
