TX
I can help you recognize your thoughts, emotions and behaviors and assist in making changes that will bring a greater quality of life. Through the extensive training I have received in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy I can help you work to decrease your depression, anxiety and or PTSD symptoms. I also can assist with improving sleep through cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia or addressing substance use disorder of all types through Cognitive Behavior Therapy for substance use disorder. I worked in a residential setting for addictions and other psychiatric disorders. There I learned to connect with the person and assist them to complete focused therapy and transition to successful living. I worked at the VA with veterans in a residential setting following this and worked with families and individuals in that capacity. I currently work at the VA as an outpatient therapist and have addressed issues related to grief and loss, depression, anxiety, PTSD and life transitions such as adoption, divorce and others not mentioned here. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree from Liberty University in Christian counseling and have many skills to provide in that area if this is needed or desired. I am a veteran and am privileged to also serve veterans at the VA. I completed a Master's degree in community counseling at A&M commerce university. I am married and a father of 7 and have adopted two children and have had extensive training in TBRI Trust Based Relational Intervention. My wife and I are also foster parents of two littles. I love to ride motorcycles and build garden pathways with plants and flowers outdoors. My favorite quote and part of the philosophy that guides me and influences therapy is by Viktor Frankl the author of Man's search for meaning. "Ask not what is the meaning of life rather ask what gives my life meaning."
