It can be difficult to admit when you’re struggling. In a world that can feel harsh and unforgiving, many of us learn to believe that showing vulnerability means we’re weak, or that sharing our fears and anxieties will burden others or be used against us later. These are common beliefs I hear when clients first come to see me. Asking for help is not easy. But the fact that you’re reading this right now is evidence of strength, not weakness. It shows you’re already working to make your life better, and I want to help you get there. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a native Houstonian. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Houston, and before becoming a therapist, I spent much of my career supporting people living with serious mental illness, primarily within Houston’s homeless community. That experience taught me to meet every person with respect, patience, and without judgment. I work with adults facing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), PTSD and trauma, anger management, substance use, and life adjustments. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while staying flexible and drawing on other approaches to fit your individual needs. I see clients in person at Fowler & Tidwell Counseling in the Galleria area and through secure online therapy (telehealth). I welcome clients of every background, culture, and identity. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start. You just have to take the first step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can come as you are. There’s no need to have the right words or a perfect explanation for what you’re feeling. My office is a judgment-free space where you can be honest about what’s going on, and we’ll figure out the next steps together. My style is direct, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I’ll be honest with you, and I’ll respect your pace. Therapy works best when you feel like a partner in the process, not a project. Here’s how I can help: Depression and anxiety: understanding what keeps you stuck and building practical tools to feel more like yourself. Bipolar disorder and BPD: developing skills to manage mood shifts, intense emotions, and relationships with more stability. PTSD and trauma: working through the impact of difficult experiences at a pace that feels safe. Anger management: recognizing triggers and responding in ways that align with who you want to be. Substance use: exploring your relationship with alcohol or substances without shame, alongside any mental health concerns. Life transitions: navigating change, loss, and adjustment with more confidence. Sessions are available in person in Houston or online, whichever fits your life best.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), tailored to your needs, goals, and pace. Intake session: Before your first session with me, you’ll meet with a member of our clinical team for an intake appointment. This is where we complete paperwork and initial assessments, so our time together can focus fully on you. Getting to know you: In our first sessions, we’ll talk about what brought you in, your history, and what you’d like to be different, whether that’s depression, anxiety, mood changes, trauma, anger, substance use, or a major life adjustment. Setting goals together: We’ll create a plan that reflects what matters to you. You’ll always have a say in where we focus. Building skills and insight: Using CBT, we’ll identify the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck and replace them with practical coping skills you can use in everyday life. When another approach would serve you better, I’ll adapt, because therapy should fit you, not the other way around. Reviewing progress: We’ll check in regularly on what’s helping and adjust as you grow. Every step forward counts. I’m here to help you take the next one.
