“I have heard from friends and family how difficult it is to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. Luckily, Dana was the first therapist I saw and likely she’s the only I’ll ever need. She put me at ease right from the start by making me feel heard and validated. She is very open to feedback and has never let her ego distract our sessions. She is kind, trustworthy, and wise. I can’t recommend her highly enough!”

Getting to know Donna Constantineau

What makes our lives truly happy, are the quality of our relationships. It's important to make our relationships the main priority. If you are feeling isolated, disconnected, or alone, its time to ascertain what is missing in your relationships. Oftentimes, your attachment style that you learned as a child may keep you stuck from trusing yourself and holding back due to an anxious attachment, avoidant attachment, or a fearful-avoidant attachment. These attachments can move towards healing when you identify the protector parts that have become unhealthy defense mechanisms such as avoiding conflict or too afraid to be seen and truly known. This process helps you develop skills of emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal communication. Now you can better manage anxiety and mood changes. Another part of healing is identifying the parts that are frozen in the past. By making them conscious through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) these wounded parts can unburden from the past and release painful memories, feelings, bodily sensations, and distorted beliefs such as " I am unlovable." With this healing work, the Self can recover and a secure attachment is possible. (Individual and couple counseling).

What should a new client know about working with you?

Compassion-Focused Therapy keeps me attuned to the client's'emotional energy. It is my guiding system of knowing when to be more directive and when the client needs emotional space for processing. It is learning to dance by trusting the client to set the pace and direction of therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every session is a safe holding space where the client/couple can trust that all judgments are suspended. I also meet the clients where they are at with a total commitment to improve their quality of life and sense of well being.

Amazing! She does so many wonderful things! She has helped me heal from my mom's traumtic passing.
I have heard from friends and family how difficult it is to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. Luckily, Dana was the first therapist I saw and likely she’s the only I’ll ever need. She put me at ease right from the start by making me feel heard and validated. She is very open to feedback and has never let her ego distract our sessions. She is kind, trustworthy, and wise. Absolutely loved working with Donna. She is unlike any therapists I saw before. She taught me so mant things about myself. Will forever be grateful for the time spent with her.
Donna was so easy to talk to and incredibly insightful I made more progress in 3 months than other therapists have done in 6 months. She also really understood my partner and he was able to be vulnerable with her, and she really helped us understand each other better and growing so much stronger.
From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and at ease. The environment was calm and comfortable, which helped me open up more than I expected. I left the session feeling lighter, more understood, and encouraged.
I went to Donna because I was suffering from chronic depression. She helped me to understand that was surgery from complex PTSD due to my patents neglects my needs including ongoing connection (care, guidance, not being seen or heard). She used EMDR to help me process traumatic memories and flashbacks that kept me stuck with high anxieties and numbing/shut down. Donna taught me how to do deep breathing, all mindfulness. (Being aware of my body, emotions, and negative thoughts). I am doing alot better because I understand what happened to me & how it has been affecting my life today.
Donna is an excelent counselor. I was going through an existent crisis. I couldn't go on the way I was living. My mask was helding me together and I was still identifying myself for others. This was my survival skill I learned from my family that means treated me like a person with stepdad who cursed scream and beat me on a regular basis. So how I survived all of this and went to college and became a counselor. I worked in a jail where I saw men with severe trauma. I could no longer hold my trauma back, and carry thesis. Donna P was also a vetrent that served in the I say was for 4 years. Donna helped me find a lawyer who represented me in my disability case. ( I was suffering from PTSD). Donna was the first person to let me be myself without any masks. She validated my trauma and helped me understand that years of trauma kep me in hyperansured and hypoarosed. Donna taught me mindful skills that gave me bew tools to connect with any inner work/reality and discovered how my traumatic childhood discovered my thinking. (I am worthless0) and cut off my feeling through numbing & disscounting from myself. I was able to take a hiatus in my life. This gave me the necessary soace to begin having compassion for discovered myself. Real caring was to be an artist. I would have to say that Donna walked me through my healing journey and gave me a reason to live rather than survive.
I have been to alot of therapists, but no one has the skill and presence that this therapist has. She is very knowledgable in treating issues and has brought me a long ways in a short time.
My therapist used Internal Family Systems & EMDR to unburden my wounded child who was always hypervigilant and afraid something bad would happen to me. The process freed my manager parts (anxious part, depressed part, perfectionist part, conflict avoider) who protected my 4 year old wounded child. Since I was sexually abused over a period of time, I did a cleansing ritual with my inner parent that healed my wounded body. I live in the present with my inner parent where I feel safe for the first time in my life.
It was excellent. I never leave a session without feeling free, enlightened, and more aware of myself. I started seeing Donna a year ago riddled with crippling anxiety. Im functioning better today than I have ever in my life.
The therapist has a wonderful wealth of knowledge of addressing trauma. She is excellent with EMDR & helping me to connect & understand trauma and slowly move o I would highly recommend her!
She is great. Amazing listener. Highly trained and skilled! in EMDR, helping my traumatized child in the past connect to the adult self in the present to bring healing and reconnection. Also IFS/ parts therapy has helped me to identify parts of myself (ex- people pleaser, perfectionist, controlls, lonely past, performer) that helped me to adapt to a very dysfunctional & abusive family and survive!
My visit with Donna was filled with much needed support, but also insight. She was able to bring me back to reality & help me stabilize myself mentally. Donna listened to me and expressed great compassion and understanding like she alway does.
Donna does a great job getting to the root of my issues and helping me heal from the trauma of the past. She also equips me with the skills & resources to navigate life in a healthier manner. She cares a lot about her patients and wants to see them grow into a healthier version of themselves
