Hi there, I'm Donna!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licenced Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of California. I have served in the military, identify as Lesbian, and have worked in the Counseling field since 1995. I have lived in multiple locations and worked in a variety of settings with people from various cultural, economic, and spiritual backgrounds. I love working with people to help them learn and grow as others have helped me. I also enjoy learning and growing from my interactions with those I serve.
My approach
I collaborate with clients to help them achieve their personal goals and improve the quality of their lives. My approach is Eclectic, pulling from several modalities to include Solution-focused, Strength-based, Trauma-informed, Cognitive; Dialectical; Behavioral, and Motivational skills and techniques. My specialties are trauma, addictions, life transitions, grief, depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship challenges.
My focus
I enjoy working with all types of populations: adolescents, young adults, middle-aged, and seniors. I have a great deal of experience working with military active duty and Veterans; LGBTQI+ individuals; caregivers; anyone struggling with issues related to identity; life transitions; trauma; and addiction.
My communication style
I have been told I have a pleasant tone and demeanor. I am attentive and a good listener. I work with people in a collaborative, compassionate, and productive way. I am a teacher and a coach. I genuinely care about, respect, honor, and support individuals, families, and communities. I am honest, open, willing, authentic, non-judgemental, and accepting.
My journey to therapy
My interest in therapy began at an early age. I have always wanted to understand why people do the things they do. I have my own history of trauma, grief, recovery, and redemption. I have been a recipient of therapy and am truly grateful for the help I received when I needed it.
