Getting to know Donna Palmer
Hello, I'm Donna. As human beings, we all experience stages of change throughout our life cycle. Some of us embrace change, while others perceive it as chaos from our place of comfort or safety. Regardless of how we respond to change, it can be immensely helpful to have an unbiased individual listen, provide feedback, and assist with coping through the unknown. My varied life experiences as a mother of six, an ex-Air Force Medical Evacuation nurse, a mental health worker, and a licensed professional counselor have prepared me to both understand and assist in your life journey. I understand the challenges of negotiating the rough spots in life.
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling and an Ed.S. in Community Mental Health. With 17 years of experience as a licensed counselor, I have had the privilege of working with clients from many backgrounds, cultures, races, and religions. We all share the human experience, which can be both beautiful and difficult, often presenting a complex mixture of emotions. I specialize in working with clients in transition, whether facing a medical crisis, retirement, divorce, family dysfunction, anxiety, depression, or simply seeking self-understanding.
Using an eclectic approach that includes cognitive-behavioral tools, systems theory, and strategic problem-solving, we can work together as a team to meet your mental health goals. My strengths lie in empathy, personal regard, and a belief that families and individuals deserve an ally in their quest to find personal peace.
