Donna Sadural, LCSW

Psychotherapist
FL
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 10 years of experience supporting individuals and families through stress, anxiety, life transitions, health challenges, and difficult circumstances. My clinical background includes outpatient therapy, school-based mental health, and pediatric medical social work, where I have worked with people navigating both everyday challenges and significant life disruptions. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. I believe you know yourself and your life better than anyone, so therapy should be a partnership rather than a place where someone simply tells you what to do. I draw from approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies, adapting our work to your needs and goals. I currently work in pediatric healthcare, where I provide psychosocial support and crisis intervention to patients and families while also serving as a Clinical Social Work Educator. This experience has strengthened my ability to listen carefully, navigate complex situations, and help people identify practical ways forward. I particularly enjoy working with adults who may be functioning well on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, burned out, or uncertain about what comes next. You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin wherever you are and work together from there.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to come to therapy with the perfect explanation for what's wrong or a neatly defined list of goals. Sometimes you simply know that something doesn't feel right, you're overwhelmed, or you don't feel like yourself anymore. That's enough of a reason to start. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest without having to worry about being judged. At the same time, I believe therapy should be useful. We'll spend time understanding what's happening, but we'll also look at patterns, identify what is within your control, and develop strategies that fit your actual life. I tend to take a collaborative and conversational approach. I won't assume that one technique or treatment approach works for everyone, and I won't give you a long list of things you "should" be doing. Instead, we'll figure out together what is most helpful for you. My experience in medical social work has also taught me that mental health doesn't exist in isolation. Work, relationships, family, culture, physical health, major life changes, and other circumstances can all affect how we feel. I'm interested in the whole picture—not just a diagnosis or a symptom. Most importantly, you don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Therapy can also be a place to pause, gain perspective, understand yourself better, and make intentional changes before things become overwhelming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is primarily about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy now. We'll talk about what you've been experiencing, what's been difficult, what you've tried before, and what you would like to be different. I'll also answer any questions you have about therapy and how I work. You don't need to arrive with clearly defined goals. If you're not sure where to start, that's completely okay. Part of our initial work can be figuring that out together. As we continue, we'll identify the concerns and patterns that are most important to you and develop goals that feel meaningful and realistic. Depending on your needs, we may use structured strategies, reflection, skill-building, psychoeducation, or simply create space to process and make sense of what you're experiencing. I regularly check in about whether therapy feels useful and whether our approach is meeting your needs. Therapy isn't something I want you to passively participate in; I want you to understand why we're doing what we're doing and feel like you have an active role in the process. My goal is for you to leave sessions with greater clarity, increased self-understanding, and practical tools you can use between sessions. Some sessions may involve working through something difficult, while others may focus on problem-solving, building skills, or recognizing progress. Ultimately, the process is individualized. We'll adjust our approach as your needs and goals change.
