Getting to know Donnah Clark

Hello and welcome! I'm Donnah, and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about starting therapy. It can be quite challenging to decide which provider will meet your needs. I am genuinely interested in learning about your expectations for therapy and how I may be helpful. I offer individualized planning and treatment options. I believe therapy is a commitment to yourself, and you are worthy of the investment! I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, which equips me to support you effectively on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have spent most of my career working in community mental health care with children, adolescents, young adults and families. In this work I have developed some specialty areas including early psychosis, emerging serious mental health, trauma, anxiety and depression, among other areas. I am a master trainer for suicide intervention skills (ASIST) and a trauma-informed trainer. My most recent (and beloved) position was project director for an early intervention program, which I held for 5 years and served 10 counties in Kentucky, before moving to private practice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You will find I am easy to talk to, nonjudgmental, and allow the client to lead the session, goals, and provide feedback.My clinical foundation is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and also utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and often draw from other modalities. In our first session we will get to know one another, review yur needs and goals, and begin to formulate a plan. This is also a good time for you to ask any questions you may have. Naturally, questions may arise after the initial session and I would encourage you to write them down to discuss at subsequent meetings. I look forward to working with you!
