Getting to know Dorian Turner
I am Dorian Turner, LCSW, and I provide telemental health services in Illinois, Florida, Vermont, and Texas. I work well with millennials and young adults experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and adults with serious mental illnesses. I provide a space free of judgment and shame. Through individual therapy, I help my clients gain greater awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop healthy coping techniques for maladaptive patterns.
I earned my Master's in Social Work from Chicago State University. My approach is to help clients identify their current strengths while working together to add to their toolkit. My go-to methods include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness, all through a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens. I look forward to connecting and assisting you in doing the work toward promoting a better you!

As a therapist, I strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. I want my clients to feel safe and comfortable, knowing they can openly share their thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism or invalidation.
I approach goal setting collaboratively, ensuring goals are client-centered, realistic, and aligned with their values and aspirations. We use SMART criteria (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) to create clear, actionable steps. Regularly reviewing and adjusting these goals ensures they remain relevant and achievable as clients progress.
