Getting to know Dorie Cruz

Hello, I'm Dorie. My approach to counseling is a combination of psychoeducational, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I believe in empowering my clients with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate their challenges and achieve their goals. I received my B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling from Southwestern Adventist University. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working in various settings that have enriched my experience and understanding of mental health. I spent nine years working in a counseling center with university students with disabilities, where I learned the importance of tailored support and advocacy. For the last four and a half years, I've been counseling students in a K-12 setting, helping young minds grow and thrive. Additionally, I've dedicated the same period to providing free counseling at a community outreach center, a role that has deepened my commitment to accessible mental health care. My specialties include working with children and adolescents dealing with ADHD, Anger Maleagement, Anxiety, Depression, and Social Skills. I also have extensive experience supporting clients with Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Trauma, Relationship issues, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Phase of Life issues. I am open to working with all clients and am passionate about helping you reach your full potential.
