“We have been working with Drake since late 2022 and the progress I've seen with my child has been amazing. He was able to establish a good relationship based on trust and respect, which has been instrumental in being able to reach my child. It's been a long road, but I don't know where we'd be without the counseling, plus the knowledge Drake shares with me to make sure I can meet my child where they are. He's not only helped my child, but helped me be the parent they need me to be to help them succeed. ”

Getting to know Drake Scallon

My name is Drake Scallon, and I am from Austin, Texas. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving the Greater Austin community, I am passionate about providing individuals with science-based strategies for wellness and creating a safe, nurturing space for genuine self-expression in therapy. Using an interdisciplinary approach, I utilize clinical neurobiology and evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness techniques to effectively treat presenting symptoms. Whether you're new to therapy or have been seeing therapists for many years, thank you for having the courage to ask for help. Having an extensive background working with adults, couples, families, and youth ages (6-18), I feel confident guiding you toward your treatment goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

It's not easy asking for help. I understand that expressing vulnerability can be intimidating and uncomfortable. Using a trauma-informed approach, I help clients understand the impact of adverse experiences and complex trauma to help restore their sense of safety, choice, and control. I welcome diverse worldviews and promise to provide care that is humanistic, open-minded, compassionate, and strengths-based. During our work together, I will help you identify your strengths and unlearn behaviors that may have led to self-sabotage in the past, preventing you from achieving your goals. As we experience hardships and trauma, our sense of self fractalizes, making it difficult to trust our instincts. Developing a healthy sense of self and autonomy starts with building key skills in emotional regulation, self-reflection, communication, distress tolerance, conflict resolution, and mindfulness. I guide clients in strengthening these abilities to navigate life with confidence and balance. Utilizing my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and specializations in Clinical Neurobiology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play/Art therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness techniques, I will help you create coping skills that will improve the quality of your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work with clients in both in-person and virtual sessions, typically lasting 53–60 minutes. My approach is person-centered, meaning I tailor each session to your unique needs and goals. I use evidence-based techniques and the latest developments in mental health care to provide practical tools and strategies that can improve your quality of life. Whether you’re seeking individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, or adolescent therapy, I am here to support you every step of the way. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

Mr. Scallon was very helpful when he worked with my teenaged son who was going through some tough times. I would highly recommend, Mr. Drake Scallon.
Drake is a wonderful LCSW. He has extensive knowledge when it comes to specific topics for a patient to work on to develop coping skills. Drake incorporates learning with visual and tactical resources. He also takes the time to curate each session to fit the needs of his patients. No only does he plan ahead, but he also delivers a recap at the end of each session so I feel informed. He is very kind and responsive throughout his communication with his patients as well as caregivers and parents. I’d highly recommend him and glad that our family was referred to him.
Working with Drake has been exceptional! He approaches every situation with compassion and makes me feel seen and heard. He has been able to help me navigate challenging times in my life and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Drake was fantastic with our son who doesn’t like too open up. Our some looked forward to his visits with Drake and came away calmer. Drake is very responsive and supportive. We highly recommend him!
Finding the right therapist is important and we had an initial 15 min phone introduction to one another that helped greatly. Drake has helped me for years and everyone I have refereed has also loved his services.
Drake is a compassionate and caring person who also happens to be a qualified Psychologist. He helped me to navigate some of the most difficult times of my life. He made me feel heard while also providing me constructive feedback on ways to move forward in a healthy way. My EMDR sessions with him were wonderful. I’ve recommended him to friends in the past and would recommend him to anyone seeking peace from their past
Drake is a kind, compassionate, dedicated professional who genuinely cares about his patients growth in and out of the office!
Drake Scallon is a very good therapist, I have been going to weekly sessions since September 2024 and it definitely changed and saved my life. He helped me grow self respect which was far from happening on my own, and all of that without ever judging me or looking down on me. I definitely recommend him and if I had to start again I’d still choose this therapist over anyone else !
