Getting to know Drew Nelson

Drew completed his Master of Arts Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He also earned his Graduate Certificate in Addiction Studies and is dually licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor through the state of Minnesota. Drew has experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who struggle with both mental and chemical health. Before completing his master’s degree, he worked as a mental health counselor in group homes for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Drew has provided both individual and group therapy to clients with a wide variety of concerns. He has also worked on an Assertive Community Treatment team to serve individuals with varying needs throughout Washington County. Drew uses an integrative style, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused and strengths-based techniques, as well as existential approaches to facilitate growth within his clients. He views therapy as a safe place for individuals to explore and process their lived experiences and seeks to provide a warm and accepting environment to support his clients in achieving their goals.
