Dvorah Palmer, LMHC, MA

Psychotherapist
FL
I’m a licensed mental health counselor who works with individuals and couples across Florida. I help people navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the feeling of being stuck or overwhelmed. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I don’t believe therapy should feel intimidating or overly clinical—it should feel like a real conversation where you feel understood, supported, and gently challenged when needed. I often incorporate techniques from the Gottman Method when working with couples, along with evidence-based strategies to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns. Many of my clients come in feeling disconnected—from themselves, their partner, or the life they want to be living. Together, we work to build insight, improve communication, and create meaningful, lasting change. If you’re looking for a therapist who is down-to-earth, engaged, and focused on helping you feel more like yourself again, I’d love to connect.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure at first. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and not judged. In our work together, you can expect a balance of support and gentle challenge. I’ll help you explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, while also giving you practical tools you can use in your daily life. Sessions are conversational and collaborative—you won’t just be talking at me, we’ll be actively working together. If you’re coming in as an individual, we may focus on things like anxiety, self-esteem, boundaries, or life transitions. If you’re coming in as a couple, we’ll work on improving communication, rebuilding connection, and understanding each other more deeply. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. You can come exactly as you are, and we’ll take it one step at a time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you—what’s bringing you in, what’s been going on, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out; I’ll help guide the conversation and ask questions to better understand your experiences. From there, we’ll begin to identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, and work together to set clear, meaningful goals. Sessions are conversational, but also focused—we’re not just talking, we’re working toward change. In ongoing sessions, we’ll check in on what’s coming up for you, process challenges, and build practical tools you can use outside of therapy. Depending on your needs, this may include strategies for managing anxiety, improving communication, setting boundaries, or shifting unhelpful thought patterns. If you’re coming in as a couple, we’ll focus on understanding each partner’s perspective, improving communication, and rebuilding connection using structured, evidence-based approaches. My goal is for you to leave sessions with both greater insight and something tangible you can take with you into your daily life.
